Two, don't be afraid to try mixing and matching styles, colors and textures. Retro 1950's and 60's styles are going to be hot. Don't let a soft economy slow you down and keep you from looking your best. Buying on a budget doesn’t mean you should have to purchase cheap, poor quality clothing. It is much better to invest a little more on brand name merchandise now, then to skimp on quality. Make the investment now, and these fashion pieces will quickly turn into priceless staples that last for many seasons to come.

Beating The Winter Blues
Posted by Leslie C on Tuesday, January 5 at 10:46 AM
Winter is in full force, and as the days get shorter and the nights get colder, it's easy to feel a little down. Many of us may experience the "winter blues", but don't worry, here are 3 helpful tips to prevent, and even overcome them. 1. Treat Yourself - Having something to look forward to can keep anyone motivated. Winter seems endless! But if you plan something exciting, your mood improves when you're anticipating it and when the event actually comes. So go on and plan something exciting for yourself. 2. Relax! - Whether it's work, class, family, friends, appointments, meetings - you're busy! Even if your day is jam-packed with fun and fulfilling things, everyone can use some time off. Don't be afraid to say "No" to extra opportunities, and try to carve out a few minutes each day doing nothing! 3. Embrace the Season - Instead of always avoiding the cold and the snow - look for the best that it has to offer! Take up a winter sport like ice skating, snowboarding, hockey, or even sledding! You may surprise yourself at how much fun you'll have!

Staying Warm
Posted by Leslie C on Wednesday, February 3 at 11:31 AM
As the temperature continues to drop, we find ourselves turning up the heat in our homes more and more. It's easy to keep the house cooler than comfortable when we're thinking of the monthly heating bill. However, here are few tips for keeping toasty without busting your budget! First, make sure the return vents, baseboards, and radiators are not obstructed by any objects and that air can flow freely. Two, turn off the heat from any rooms that are not used and can be closed off. Three, install caulking and weather stripping, or use spray foam around any windows and doors with air leaks. By following these 3 easy steps, you're sure to keep your house warmer longer.

No Place Like Home
Posted by Leslie C on Wednesday, February 3 at 11:43 AM
The winter months are often a busy traveling season. Whether you're visiting your grandmother or driving to the mountains for a winter ski trip, it's easy to find yourself on the go all the time. To avoid becoming stressed out from all the hustle and bustle, make sure you take some time for you. Instead of going out, invite friends over to watch a movie, or gather the family for a fun day of baking. By doing things at home a little more often, you'll find that you're less overwhelmed by the constant coming and going, and that your pocket is a little more padded with some extra cash you're not having to spend on gas from driving all over the place!

Lighten your Spirit with color
Posted by Leslie C on Wednesday, December 23 at 01:06 PM
Spring is the time of year when all of us think about renewal and livening things in our life up a little. It's the perfect time to make those little changes in your home that can really invigorate everyone's mood and energy. Spring decorating updates call for delicate colors and soft fabrics. Get outside of your family's comfort zone and try using slightly brighter colors and paint on walls, furniture, or trim. Want to take a slightly more conservative approach? Start with neutral wall tones and then add some pizzazz with a aqua blues and spring green accents. Consider bringing the beautiful spring feel of the outdoors - indoors by bringing in a piece of outdoor furniture. It will bring in a new interesting texture to your home. Everyone is sure to enjoy that rush of spring.

Start Planning Your Vacation
Posted by Leslie C on Wednesday, December 23 at 01:11 PM
Sure it's cold outside and you probably have those old, winter blahs. One way to fight the winter doldrums is to start planning your spring or summer family vacation now. Who has time for feeling gloomy when you have tropical breezes, sandy beaches and the sound of ocean waves filling your head. Start the process by getting the family together to discuss everyone's vacation destination ideas. Once you have some perfect locales in mind for your getaway, start doing your research online or through a travel agent. Request photos, brochures and other details of the resorts that you may be interested in so that you can have time to reconvene as a family to make the final choices. Passing around the pictures and discussing all of the things there will be to do and see will really keep everybody excited. It will then be vacation time before you know it.
